Washington State is currently experiencing a rapid outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), impacting our communities in a number of ways. On Friday, March 13, Governor Inslee announced his order to close all K-12 public and private schools for six weeks.
In response to this announcement, the Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) has filed emergency rules, extending the validity period on certificates expiring June 30, 2020 for one additional year. These certificates will now expire June 30, 2021. This policy change is effective immediately.
